Last week, we announced three student teams as the winners of the 2015 BIT/BIS Best App Award.

In our second year bachelor courses Business Information Technology (BIT) & Business Information Systems (BIS), student teams were asked to develop an innovative app for the fictitious bank ‘AmsterBank’. Using the MIT App Inventor, students were able to develop a working app that can be downloaded and used on an Android smartphone.

We concluded the courses with a ‘Best App Award event’, hosted at ABN AMRO bank. Nominated teams were invited to pitch their app, and based on the quality of their pitch and the innovativeness of their app, the winners were chosen by a jury consisting of ABN AMRO managers and lecturers of the course. The three winning teams developed innovative apps, including features such as cardless cash withdrawal at ATMs, an IBAN scanner, and a spending overview.

The ABN AMRO managers were impressed by the quality of the ideas and presentations, the students seemed to have fun and we were extremely proud of their achievements.
